Wedding table decor ideas: from the top table to favours that last

Decor ideas for the couple's table and the guest tables, with flowers, vases and favours guests take home.

Wedding table decor ideas: from the top table to favours that last

The most beautiful wedding table decor ideas start with a simple question: what do you want people to feel when they sit down? Warmth, elegance, maybe a playful joy. Everything else, the flowers, vases, candles and colours, falls into line with that feeling. Below you'll find ideas for the couple's table, the guest tables and favours that don't end up forgotten in a drawer.

Wedding table decor ideas: where to start

Before flowers and colours, look at a few practical things:

  • The shape of the tables. Round tables call for a centrepiece. Long banquet tables look wonderful with a line of small vases from one end to the other.
  • The venue. A room with a high ceiling and lots of light can take tall arrangements. An intimate restaurant or a terrace calls for something lower and more discreet.
  • The colour palette. Choose two or three colours and stick to them. White and green suit almost any theme. On top of them you can add an accent: gold, dusty pink, summer yellow.
  • The venue's rules. Ask early whether open-flame candles are allowed and whether the venue already includes basic decor.

Floral wedding table decor

Flowers are the soul of the table. But they don't need to be many to be beautiful.

Low arrangements, so people can see each other

A rule everyone who decorates weddings knows: guests need to be able to see each other and talk across the table. Centrepieces are either low, below eye level, or very tall, on slim stands, above people's heads. The middle zone blocks conversation.

Small vases, grouped together

One of the most elegant ideas is also one of the simplest. Instead of one big arrangement, put three or five small vases of different heights on the table, each with a few stems. It looks airy and natural, and leaves room for plates and glasses.

The Eos set, 124 RON, has vases of 12 and 16.5 cm, exactly the right height for a wedding table. The Rhea set, 184 RON, with white vases from 16.5 cm, looks just as lovely on a long table.

Seasonal flowers

Seasonal flowers are usually fresher, more fragrant and easier to find. Peonies and garden roses in early summer. Sunflowers and wildflowers in August. Dahlias, chrysanthemums and russet leaves in autumn. White branches, cotton and greenery in winter. And if you want the flowers to look fresh until the last dance, read how to keep flowers fresh in a vase.

Wedding decor: the top table

The top table, where the couple sits with the godparents and sometimes the parents, as is the custom at Romanian weddings, is where every eye turns. Here the decor can be richer. But still in moderation, because in the photos you want to see faces, not just flowers.

A few ideas for the top table

  • A garland of greenery along the whole length of the table, with a few vases rising out of it.
  • Vases at different heights, a taller one in the centre and lower ones towards the ends. That creates a rhythm, like a melody.
  • A touch of gold that catches the candlelight. The Artemis and Apollo set, 208 RON, has one white vase and one white-and-gold vase, like a pair on the couple's table.
  • The backdrop. The top table is always photographed from the front. A wall of flowers, a light drape or just a warm light from behind work wonders.

Colours for the couple's table

The Summer Wedding set, 229 RON, is inspired by the elegance of summer weddings. It comes in white, black, yellow, black with gold and white with gold, so it suits both a classic all-white wedding and a very elegant black-and-white one.

Minimalist wedding decor

Minimalism doesn't mean empty. It means every object on the table is chosen with intention.

  • Fewer flowers, more shape. A single orchid or tulip stem in a slim vase says a lot.
  • White everywhere. White tablecloths, white porcelain, white flowers, greenery. Warm light does the rest.
  • Textures instead of colours. Natural linen, matt porcelain, wood, glass.
  • Low candles in simple holders, where the venue allows them.

Tall, slim vases work beautifully here. The Calliope set, 160 RON, with white vases 23.5 cm tall, holds one or two flowers each, exactly right for a minimalist look.

Wedding table arrangements you can keep

A question many couples ask: what happens to the decor after the wedding? Most of the time it ends up in the bin or in a box. But there is a lovelier option.

If you choose real porcelain vases for the tables, they can have a second life. You take them home, give them to your parents, your godparents, the friends who helped you. Each vase becomes a keepsake from your wedding that someone dear fills with flowers every spring.

Special, elegant wedding favours

Favours are the small “thank you” every guest takes home. The best-loved ones are the ones that get used.

The vase: table decor first, then a favour

Here's an idea that ties it all together: place small vases with a single flower next to each plate or in the centre of the table. At the end of the evening, each guest takes their vase home. The table decor becomes the favour, and the flowers from your wedding live on for a few more days on their kitchen table.

The idea works especially well for a small wedding or for the people closest to you: godparents, parents, bridesmaids, the friends who stood by you. The Selene vase, white, 15 cm, 140 RON, is just right for a gesture like this.

Other elegant favour ideas

  • Succulents in small pots that grow along with the memory. We wrote about them in our guide to succulents.
  • Scented candles with a label bearing your names and the wedding date.
  • Honey, jam or olive oil in small jars.
  • Flower seeds, for guests who have a garden or a balcony.

Whatever you choose, a short note written by you makes the favour personal.

Frequently asked questions

Which flowers go on a wedding table?

Seasonal flowers suit best, because they are fresher and last longer. Roses, peonies, gypsophila, lisianthus and eucalyptus greenery often appear on wedding tables. Choose two or three varieties and a limited colour palette so the table looks cohesive.

How tall should arrangements on the guest tables be?

Either low, below the eye level of seated guests, or very tall, with the flowers above people's heads. Anything in between stops guests from seeing each other and talking. Small vases, 12 to 20 cm tall, are the safest choice.

How do I decorate the top table?

Use one element that ties the whole table together, such as a garland of greenery, and a few vases at different heights. Keep the decor lower in front of the couple, so they show up well in photos. A touch of gold or candles bring warmth to the evening.

Which wedding favours actually get used?

The ones that still have a purpose after the wedding: a small vase, a plant, a candle, something good to eat. Objects that only sit on a shelf are quickly forgotten. A favour that gets filled with flowers or grows on a windowsill keeps you in mind for a long time.

What does minimalist wedding decor look like?

A few elements, chosen with care: white, greenery, porcelain, wood, warm light. One flower in each slim vase instead of lavish arrangements. The result is bright, airy and very elegant in photos.

Can I order several vases for the wedding tables?

Yes, write to us through the contact page with the number of vases and the style of your wedding. We'll reply with what we have available. If you're in Bucharest, you can also come and see them in person at the showroom.
